Haiti Disaster Appeal

bis.bishop.brown.jpg.92.238.54.59.2010118125903.78781667351723E-02.jpg (18/01/2010 12:59:00)I am writing on the sad occasion of the devastating earthquake which struck Haiti on the 12th January 2010. By all accounts, this has caused massive destruction and disruption to all the major services in the country and will require international assistance to get them back on their feet. I have spoken to Dr. Fedlyn Beason, the Church of God Caribbean Field Director, and he has confirmed that the situation is dire.

I am requesting that the New Testament Church of God have a corporate response – that all funds collected be sent to the National Office which we will then send to Haiti via our World Missions Department. All donations should be made payable to the New Testament Church of God (Haiti Appeal). Funds are restricted and can only be used for the purpose for which they are collected.

As we respond in giving, let us not fail to remember them in our prayers and indeed the army of people such as doctors, nurses, engineers and other relief workers whose service will be invaluable to them at this time.

Dr. Eric A. Brown FRSA
Administrative Bishop

We wish to thank everyone for their response to the Haiti appeal.  Donations are coming in from our churches and we wish to encourage on-going financial contributions.

The situation is still desperate and they will need our help long after the media has left.  Just a reminder, the Church of God has over 250 congregations in Haiti, a number of which have been affected by the disaster. Unfortunately the Overseer for Haiti, Dr Elysee Joseph, together with a number of his church members and leaders, died as a result of the earthquake. Please keep the Haitians in your prayers.
