A1 Yes, if you have successfully completed an experience similar to CAMS within the last 10 years, a request for exemption with details of the course should be sent to administrative Bishop. The Bishop and the National Examining Board will make the final decision.
Q.2 I sat the Ordained Bishops exam in 2006 but did not pass. I have just received a letter from Bishop Brown regarding the new ministerial programme which starts September 2007. It states that all candidates for ministry must take this programme. Does this mean that even if you are presently in Theological Education or have Theological Training and qualifications you still have to sit this course?
Ans.2 No, with your level of credentials you will not have to take the MIP. Exemption rules apply to those who have achieved training and qualification similar to those in CAMS and CIMS. You may be required to write the two CAMS papers. The moratorium was taken by the Bishop to synchronise the existing ministerial processes, procedures and examination dates and in so doing offer a coherent and cohesive initial and continuing ministerial development programme to the leadership of the Church. The National Examining Board will contact you via the Education Department to inform and guide you through the Ordained Bishop credentialing self-study material and examination process.
Q.3 I was ordained before MIP was required. Do I have to do the MIP now?
Ans.3 If a minister was ordained before MIP was required, s/he is automatically awarded the six credits for ministerial experience.
Q.4 I took the MIP courses before CIMS courses and credits were available. Do I get any exemptions?
Ans.4 Those who took MIP courses before CIMS courses and credits were available must repeat the course or take the proficiency examination to receive the CIMS credits. There is, however an exemption for the Old Testament and New testament taken under the old MIP.
Q.5 What is the difference between Ministerial Licensing and the Certified Ministerial Training (CMT) designation?
Ans.5 Ministerial licensing differs from Certified Ministerial Training. Ministerial Licensure is mandatory for Church of God ministers, but CMT is optional and voluntary.
Q.6 Can I get any financial support for my studies?
Ans.6 Credentialed Church of God ministers who enrol on the accredited CIMS programme are eligible for School of Ministry grants. The level of grant is based on personal financial needs. Details of grants are available from the National Education Department.
Q.7 Do I have to attend the CIMS seminars at the National Education and training Centre in Northampton?
Ans.7 Yes, until further notice. It is our expectation that in the near future regional institutions will be established across the UK in collaboration with the National Education and Training Centre to offer congregational lay leaders locally accessible training using courses such as CIMS.
Q.8 Are CIMS curriculum and resources available to anyone?
Ans.8 The CIMS curriculum and related materials are available to all ministers and all churches regardless of denominational affiliation. They can be used for personal enrichment and for non-accredited training in local churches as required. CIMS was developed for ministers including pastors, evangelists, music ministers, youth pastors, directors of Christian education, church planters and ministerial applicants but it is open to key/lay leaders. All who are interested to participate in the CIMS curriculum are welcome to register in the programme offered at Northampton
Q.9 Will I have to travel to the Leadership Training Centre for all the Training?
Ans.9 For the National Training Programme in 2007 - 2008, Yes. However, we hope that a number of regional schools/colleges and local churches within the denomination will become distance learning centres for the CIMS programme in the near future.

Q.10 What if I chose to study theology at a university or college not listed in the 5 with whom we have established links
Ans.10 Our links with the 5 institutions of higher education will not monopolise your freedom to enrol at the university/college of your choice. The links will bring added value to our programme in academic terms and will offer the leadership a wide range of opportunitities for individual and collective professional development.
Q11 If I start a course but had to stop for health reason, for example, and wished to resume my studies some months or a year later would I have to start all over again?
Ans 11 No! You would simply pick up from where you left off.
Q12 Are these courses only for NTCG ministers and leaders?
Ans 12 Categorically NO! All courses unless specifically stated are open to any Christian from any denomination. NTCG Ministers and Key leaders will enrol on the courses to support specific denominational leadership processes. If in doubt or in need of further clarity, please contact:
