Profile: Dr. Andria R. Smith is a highly sought after speaker. As a Jamaican native who came to the United States as an adolescent, she authored a seminal dissertation on the adjustment of English-speaking Caribbean adolescents who have migrated to New York City and two nonfiction works entitled Guidance From The Heart: A Christian Resource Guide For Young People and I Am Not Single I Am Just Unmarried. Dr. Smith preaches and lectures nationally and internationally on issues ranging from family-related matters, to male and female relationships and adherence to Christian principles.
Dr. Smith has degrees in Early Childhood Education and Social Work from Adelphi University where she graduated with honors and has a doctorate degree in Child and Adolescent Issues from New York University (NYU). In addition to her university training, she has certificates in Family Therapy and Substance Abuse Intervention and Prevention. As a Licensed Certified Social Worker, Dr. Smith has a private practice, Empowerment Arms Inc., where she conducts individual, group and family counseling sessions.
Dr. Smith began working with young people at the early age of fifteen and has been a Sunday School Teacher for over 28years. She is an ardent servant and has served in numerous offices including Women's Ministry President, Youth Leader, and Bible Studies Teacher of her local church. Dr. Smith delights in the preaching and teaching of God's Word and has given herself over to its study and application in order to bring restoration and wholeness to the body of Christ. Dr. Smith gives honor and glory to God daily knowing that without Him all her accomplishments mean nothing.
